About Our Pumpkins
Traditional Jack-o-Lantern Pumpkins & Heirlooms
At Diana’s Pumpkin Patch & Maze, we’re passionate about growing both heirloom varieties and classic Jack-O’-Lantern pumpkins. Our Jack-O’-Lanterns are a specific variety that only we grow in Southern Colorado. Known for their huge size & stems. Jimmy Madone, our son grows these for us here in Canon and supplies our pumpkin patch these beauties. We also grow medium and small Jack-O- Lanterns that are easier to handle. If you come before frost, these will be in the field on the vine ready to cut off yourself. Heirlooms are particularly special for us to grow. They’re more challenging to cultivate and can be sensitive to weather, insects, and disease. Because of this, they tend to be priced a bit higher than the typical orange pumpkin, but their unique qualities make them well worth it.
While heirloom pumpkins are stunning for decorating, they really shine in the kitchen. Each variety is edible, offering distinct flavors perfect for a variety of culinary uses. You’ll find descriptions and usage tips for each pumpkin on display, and many of these varieties are favorites of mine in my baking.
Since we grow a limited quantity of each heirloom variety, we recommend coming early in the season to ensure you get the pick of the patch. These pumpkins are a true gem, both for their beauty and their versatility!
